When you first plan your local move, give CITY MOVING a call. Our local movers will conduct in-home or over-the-phone consultations for free. Our staff hand-tailors your move without obligation, regardless of the time required to assess your needs.

How much does it cost?

Moving charges are based on an hourly rate for the truck and each additional local mover. If you have 1-4 rooms on the first floor, generally a truck and two movers can handle the move; however, apartments above the first floor, or a number of rooms (5 to 8) would require a more movers. (The more movers you use the less time you will pay at the end).
The total time is rounded off the nearest half an hour so the customer would be charged with ½ an hour increment.
Over 100 miles is considered an intrastate move and charges will be based on weight and mileage rates.
Generally, on a local move you can plan on about 1 to 1-1/2 hours per room, total time. For example, an eight-room home will run 8 to12 hours to load and deliver.

Packing Rates

In your local moves packing of dishes, pictures, books, linens etc. is based on a rate per man per hour.

Equipment

We offer dollies, furniture blankets, straps, ropes, tools at NO COST. Packing supplies such as boxes, tapes and etc. are available at posted websites rates.

Planning ahead with our local movers

Before your local move, call our moving consultant where you can purchase boxes and other packing materials.
We are bonded with city of Boston so if you need to reserve a spot on your moving day we can obtain parking permits for you and make your move cost less.

Liability Coverage

All licensed movers in Mass. must provide limited liability coverage for your possessions while in their care. That coverage is limited to $.60 per pound per article. If loss or damage should arise, it is the movers' responsibility to repair or replace the damaged item up to 60 cents per pound per article limit. A mover’s liability for a 50 lb portable TV would be $30.00. Additional coverage, replacement and depreciated coverage are available for an additional charge (minimums may apply).

Guaranteed Care

On moving day, our local movers guarantee the greatest care with each of your belongings. We pad, wrap and strap all appliances, furniture and delicate upholstery prior to moving each item from your old location. The protection is not removed until each piece is exactly where you want it in your new location.

After the moving day is over we can arrange for a cleaning service in your old home, office or plant. Our local mover will call to see how else we may be of assistance and to confirm your satisfaction with the job.
